Brief Kingdom History:
Since before recorded history, the people in the area now known as Venefica have practiced what they call Pythoni. It is the belief that good spirits reside in a place beyond time known only as "The Plain," while bad spirits inhabit the Earth. They believe that rituals must be performed in honor of the good spirits to keep the bad ones away; these ceremonies, as well as other supernatural rites, are presided over by a priest or priestess. The High Priest or Priestess presides over the most important ceremony- the Summer Equinox.
It is these beliefs that helped form the kingdom of Venefica. The Queen's line has always led the kingdom, and has always taken a commoner of their choice as a mate. These commoners are made official parts of the royal family and become known as "Consort-Familars."
